Abhijan is a non-profit organization founded during the Covid pandemic. It aims to address the educational gap that emerged among school children in underprivileged rural areas of West Bengal due to lack of access to e-learning facilities. The teachers in Abhijan use active learning techniques to reach out to the upper primary children and bridge the learning deficit that affects these children due to the long interruption in classroom teaching during Covid. The pedagogy followed in Abhijan combines latest teaching practices used internationally to the reality of the students being addressed and includes interactive sessions, visual cues and models along with self-explanatory worksheets.

The teaching collective in Abhijan believes in holistic growth—a simultaneous enhancement of cognitive, physical and social skills of the children. Towards this goal there is a concerted effort to organize classes in physical education and computer literacy along with sessions on regular curriculum. Children are also encouraged to organize and participate in cultural activities.

Abhijan sees the need for continuing their endeavour even after Covid to address the persisting educational gap among their pupils. Our aim is to bring about the best of them allowing them to become concerned, aware and future ready citizens.
